Ride FAQ’s

Where does SSSR ride?

  • Our rides are not limited to any particular location, but normally we ride within the hosting chapter's area. If you have any questions each chapter's road captain's contact information is posted with each ride schedule which is available online.

How long does an SSSR ride typically take?

  • Most will take anywhere from 6 to 8 total hours to complete including stops for gas, food, etc. Most rides average at least 100 miles.

  • If at any time riders have to leave for some reason, it is advised to communicate this before we head out so it can be coordinated with the road captains.

Are SSSR rides planned and timely?

  • Yes, we take time before our riding season begins to put together a ride schedule by chapter and then coordinate with all chapters to condense the ride schedule to a realistic series of rides.

  • We pride ourselves on leaving on time from the specified locations. Our “kickstands up” time is the time we roll, no ifs, ands, or buts!

  • Each of our road captains from respective chapters communicate regularly before and during our rides to ensure we are all set with meeting spots.

How does SSSR ride?

  • We want to make sure everyone has a great time, enjoys the ride, and gets home safely. For safety concerns we ride in formation at all times and obey the traffic rules and regulations to the best of our ability.

  • We do not allow hot dogging or stunting on our organized rides.

  • We have road captains set to direct and stop traffic as well.

Does SSSR have a support vehicle in cases of emergency?

  • We try to have at least one person drive a support vehicle on our rides whenever it is possible.

Does SSSR require full motorcycle gear?

  • We don’t require it, but it is strongly encouraged that, for your own protection, you invest in riding pants, shoes, gloves, proper helmets, etc.

Is it ok for a new rider to join in on a ride?

  • Yes, as stated above we want everyone to enjoy have fun and be safe while doing so. However, with that said, new riders should have passed an accredited motorcycle safety course and have a class M license. Our experienced Road Captains will make sure that no one is left behind and will also offer a few tips to help you to achieve the maximum adventure of motorcycle riding.

Do you charge for rides?

  • No, just make sure you have money for food, gas, and tolls.

Why does SSSR ride so much and so far?

  • We bought motorcycles to ride, not post up…we ride and ride for real.

Membership FAQ’s

What is the best chapter for me?

  • It depends on your location. Currently we have chapters in the Baltimore, MD, Washington DC, Gaithersburg, MD, Northern VA, Richmond, VA, Eastern Shore, MD, and King of Prussia, PA areas. If you are interested in a chapter, contact one of our chapter presidents and they will assist you with finding the right chapter for you.

Does SSSR take non-riding members?

  • As a rule, we prefer to have riders in our organization, but we do have associate members that do not ride, but help us out with driving support vehicles and many other organizational duties.

Is SSSR a Coed organization?

  • Yes, we have both male and female member.

Is SSSR a member of a chartered riding association?

  • Yes, we are as an organization, recognized members of the AMA.

  • We encourage our members to join individually as well.

Do I have to have a Sport Bike to join?

  • No, our member base is very diverse when it comes to the types of bikes we ride. No one brand or type of motorcycle is required.

What makes SSSR different from other motorcycle groups?

  • We are one of the only organizations with posted ride schedules.

  • We have one of the best operating websites on the east coast.

  • We have a great turnaround time for our online application process.

  • We are not a Motorcycle Club, therefore we don't always follow the same path as the motorcycle community as a whole.

Why doesn’t SSSR have prospects?

  • After our review of the application, an in depth interview process, our member vote, and a brief probationary period, we welcome our new members as part of our family.

  • If after the probationary period members and/or applicants feel that it is not a good fit, this will be communicated in a professional and respectful manner.

How many members are in SSSR?

  • We have 7 chapters with membership constantly growing. Our focus is not quantity, but quality.

Why doesn't SSSR have MC on their vest?

  • Because we're a sport riding organization, not a motorcycle club.

Why are dues only $10 a month?

  • Because we don't try to profit from our memberships. As a forthcoming 501c (3) organization, we are non-profit. Dues are only used to cover our expenses for rides and to benefit our community.

How does SSSR continue to sell out of all of their anniversary party tickets year after year?

  • By giving our patrons more for their money.

  • By continuing to be a positive group with no incidents at our annual event.

  • By strongly supporting others in our riding community.

How can a membership be terminated?

  • There are many reasons outlined in our By-Laws for a member to be removed from our organization.

  • There is a process for many of them, however, for some infractions immediate removal may be warranted.

  • Should a member want to voluntarily leave, we would hope that it is not due to some animosity, but our door is always open to those that depart in good standing.

  • We don't request that the departing member(s) relinquish their colors but once a membership is terminated, we ask that the colors no longer be worn. In some cases, the chapter might buy the colors back.
